I am starting a BSR build and am looking for suggestions on an intake and carb setup. I will be running a Briggs Raptor, mid range Dyno cam, I have a seperate fuel cell and can run a fuel pump as well. Just looking for ideas on carb and intake setup.

Depending on what cam you are running and what size valves, how much compression, what kind of exhaust and what fuel will determine the optimium carba nd intake. I am assuming you are running gasoline, stock interior with the exception of the camshaft and stock valves, compression height, rod and piston, the best choice for the raptor is probably the tillotson 314 carb and a 1" intake. The 314 is offered in gas and alky, and will provide plenty of fuel for your raptor. Run an rlv pipe and muffler and this will help your flow on both ends of the engine. A mikuni or similiar pump for karting or jr dragster will be sufficient to pump fuel to the carb. Hook the vacuum line to the side of the intake port and the fuel flow arrows on the pump are pretty self explanatory. If you decide to go with an alky carb be sure your fuel pump is also satisfactory for running methanol. If not the alky will eat all your rubber parts and diaphrams up.
Start with one turn one the low and high speed needles to begin with. The low speed needle controls the fuel on the bottom end and the high speed needle controls the fuel on the top end and also your rpm's. If the engine is idling very high the open the low speed needle up just a bit. If there is vapor coming out of the exhaust it is too rich, close the low speed needle a bit. if it bogs and sputters when you accelerate then your too fat, close the low speed needle just a bit, and so on etc etc etc. Good luck and dynocams, comet kart sales and such the like carry all these parts we mentioned. Be sure if you run alky to change to a spark plug thats for alcohol. Good luck

Thanks for the reply Voodoo. You hit the setup on the motor pretty close. I want to run gas so I appreciate the heads up on the Tilly.....
