Hey guys,
im new to this whole barstool racer thing and i just bought myself a Honda 6 HP engine and was wondering what the best gear ratio to go with is, and also what the best tire size to go with is as well. keep in mind, the bsr is just for messing around on and having fun with, not competitive racing.
p.s. also what type of wheel and hub combination is the best to use? i cannot find any on the internet.

Hello amd Welcome to the Forums!! As far as gear ratio goes it depends on how fast you want it to go and what wieght it is going to be pulling. Sense you are not looking to race it then I would go with a bigger rear sprocket like a # 35 60-72 tooth and a 11 tooth front sprocket. If money is not a real big Issue I would put a Comet TAV torque Converter on it. It gives you a Changing gear ratio. Good take off and good top end. In that case use a 54 tooth rear sprocket to get max speed. Still will have a Front wheel pulling low end at take off! Tires and wheels are realy just what you want it to look and handle like. Choose either 5 or 6 inch rims. I use 6" rims on all mine for a little more ground clearance. I use 6" wide tires on the front and 8" wide on the rear. Just my likes!! I use douglas one piece rims american bolt pattern. On the rear I get 10" X 6" rims and the front 7" X 6" rims for the front. I get the complete front and rear hub sets from Ebay or from mike Beans Web site above BarstoolRacerSupply.com . If running a 1" axle on rear then get the kit for 1" or 1 1/4" for the 1 1/4" axle. Match your hubs and wheels to either American bolt pattern or European. Hope this helps some and Good Luck!!
