Steel pipe frame
Honda clone 6.5 hp motor
Tav-30 Torque converter
Vintage 1976 Coleman cooler
Welded chrome chain steering wheel

I mocked up the pieces parts for the first time last weekend to check fit and function. Looks good so far. Lots of fussy details to sort out yet, throttle, brake cables, and get some air in the tires.

What is the trick with these tubeless gokart tires on 2 piece rims? I am ready to glue em up with silicone to keep them from leaking air.

Well I just wanted to post a couple of pics now because not much more will get done till the weather gets warm enough outide to paint...........and in Minnesota that might be a long way off.
When its all done I will post some details pictures of the build-up.

Very cool!! I like the fact you are using a vintage ice chest instead of a modern one like I did for my wife's little buggy. Your ice chest looks much better. Two things I'd like to suggest for your consideration.

First, though your ice chest doesn't have as much of a rounded edge on the bottom as the one I used, one of the problems I haven't figured out is how to stop it from rocking so much forward and backward. Mine doesn't have a drain on it so I have to remove it to drain all the water out. I used a piece of angle iron front and back to hold it in place but again it rocks too much. I'd like to see how you stabilize your cooler.

Second, obviously you won't be pulling any wheelies with it so I'd like to suggest you put foot pedals on it for throttle and brake. The main reason for this is so you don't detract from the looks of your cool steering wheel. It might also give you more control for smoother take offs.

Be sure to post more pics with your build as I'm anxious to see how you finish it up.

Oops, forgot to ask if you know for sure where the air is leaking from your wheels? I would in no way resort to silicone as taking them back apart in the future would be a near impossible task especially between the wheel halves. If they are leaking around the rims you might try some brake fluid on the bead of the tires to try and seal them. If it is between the wheel halves you might consider making your own gasket out of an old inner tube.

Anchoring the Kooler to the frame without drilling holes in it is a challenge.
I am going to build a subframe to capture the bottom of the kooler and bolt that down to the frame. Nylon straps will hopefully tie it down tight.

Throttle and brake will be modified bike derailer levers mounted on the steering wheel. They are small, made of polished aluminum and fit nicely on the steering wheel without drilling holes. The steering wheel will also be home to the Nitrous Button switch......... that will take you eye off the other controls!
I did mockup some foot controls, but they didnt look nice and I could not place them where they were comfortable to operate.

Here is the idea for the subframe and straps.

Bohemian:

Not so "frozen" around here the last couple of days,
pretty nice have'in 40 degrees weather in Minnesota in February.
I'll take it.

Cooler Buggy looks way Cool,
I'd say you are all ready to go Brainard Raceway with that set-up.

I will get some more pics this weekend when I finish the "wing".
I mean what goes better with barstools and beer....................... wings of course.
Anyway I figured a wing over the motor would not be good for areodymanics, but it would also be a good serving tray. Pics to follow.

here are a couple more.
