Ok I met Mike on the welding web site. I have not yet built a BSR but I plan on it.

My Name is T.J.

I can help people here with fabrication questions. I have a full machine and welding shop. I can TIG, MIG plasma, machine (Bpt. Milling machine and a lathe). I am into cars and Jet Boat (real ones with real pumps and Big Block Chevys). If you go to my site you can seean engine run in stand that I built and some other projects as well.
I am going to be honest with you. I think I am pretty good at my welding and fabrication skills. So if someone posts here and wants advice I will tell it like I see it. If you have poor and unsafe welds I will let you know. I have seen many unsafe and poor welds on mustang boards. I know these BSR are not cars but even at 20mph and a weld breaks you can get hurt or even killed if you hit the pavement just right. I also suggest you do not make a BSR as your first welding project. So off my soap box. I hope to learn here by others as well cause I have not build a BSR yet so I know I will have questions as well. I do have plans I got off e-bay and they are not that great. Sorry so long Mike. I am wondering if you can set up a GARAGE forum where we can post non-specific topics such as this one.

Hey T.J.,

Thanks for the idea on the GARAGE forum. I added a new forum call "The Local Pub" where everyone can gather and speak about whatever comes to mind.

Hello .

I was looking into building a gokart and seen a BSR. And now i'm hooked . I just got the plans to one that looks just like the one mike has at the top of the page. I have never done this before . I'm a screen printer both t shirts and decals by trade. But i have made alot of my presses and weld a little nothing big . But I'm glad i came across this forum and will sure pass it on. I haven't seen any BSR as of yet here in Oklahoma so maybe I can help start something . i would like to ask Mike what kind of and where he got the motor for his BSR.

Thanks

Thanks

The cheapest place I have found for the newer Inteks is:

http://www.shakyparts.com

They have the 5.5 for $199:

Hey WarPaint!

The motor is a Tecumseh 6.5 HP Power sport.

For ease it might be better to use a 5.0 HP because I think you can leave the gas tank on the engine when fitting under the stool. Notice I had to mount a speratefuel tank on the back of the bar stool. Growing up building cars I always had to have the biggest engine I could fit.

Do a search on E-Bay and you will find some good deals. There is a guy that advertises for $199 and $189 just trying to see what he can get.

If there is anything else just ask.

Mike

Hey guys thanks for the info . I went to the local gokart shop and they didn't act like they wanted to help me. They just keep trying to sell me a gokart. Tomarrow I go to get the steel . Oh I went to autozone and told them what i was doing showed them the plans and they gave me the barstool with autozone on the seat . Free barstool for free advertising. Not to bad. I have alot of questions but will ask them as i come to them . Thanks again .

I have one thing to say about the local go-kart shops. They are expenisive and if you can wait a few days use the Internet sites.

Hey it's me again. Yep ! you are right about local shops . I try to get some parts and they just didn't want to mess with me. So if you guys have any online parts store I would love to use them. I have started on my frame and was looking for some rear axel mount plates . And they act like they have never see what i was talking about. And they were fast to get me off the phone. I don't know how they sell anything. I will send pics of my frame soon .

Warpaint,

There are some messages in the parts and suppilies forum as to where to get your parts.

Here is a link to them.
