They are great fun to build and drive and a fantastic family motorsport (kids to grandparents). The rush is haulin ass down the track pullin a 6000lb. sled with front wheels in the air and steering by just leaning/moving your weight around, I just stick my arm out like signaling a turn and it responds. My wife used to hate going to pulls until I built a tractor for her, now she's the one who can't wait to get to the track to kick sum butt. Our end of the sport utilizes all kinds of engines; garden, motorcycle, snowmobile, automotive, rotary, aircraft turbines, boat (Mercruiser) and even electric/battery powered, gas, alcohol and diesel fuels. There are even homemade 120+ cube single cylinder flatheads with injection and blowers, one mini even has two turbines, lots of wild stuff out there. Some have multiple engines, some have blowers and/or turbos. Our club runs everything from 1 - 8 cylinders in 1050 - 1825 lb. (driver and weights inclusive) tractors.

these are called Open class tractors and pull at 1100 lbs. (driver and weights inclusive). most are around 2 Liter/120 cubes, custom made billet aluminum or plate steel 1 cylinder flathead (a few OHVs) design blocks with truck sleeve, billet crank/cam(s), some have 4 valves/ports, dual plugs, magneto(s) or crankfire ignitions, bug catcher or hilborn Methanol injection, Blowers or turbos, automotive rear axles, custom clutches and gearboxes, 31x15.5x15 pulling tires. when these monsters are runnin they vibrate your WHOLE body, gives ya the willies, big goosebumps and are a thrill to watch. the workmanship/engineering on many are top notch. a variety of setups are around, one looks like a funny car, some have two engines, i've seen rear engines too, some look like tractors, some look like minirods. a wild class seen mostly from Ohio-Iowa farm state regions. a LOT of cool combinations in this sport, NOT so cookie cutter like some sports, room for individuality.
