WHEELCHAIRMAN

Hi,
My name is Jim I am a new to all of this. I am paralyzed from the chest down. I have been checking out this site and was wondering if anyone had tried to use a wheelchair frame instead of a barstool, or if you even think it is possible.

Thanks
Jim

hey Jim,
I don't know why you couldn't make it work. Maybe you could make the sides of the frame out of small channel iron, and wheel right up it. My Dad was in a wheelchair, and I know his would have sat up high enough, it could have gone right over a shorter motor, except I don't know about the bracing underneath the chair. My sister is in one now (ladder accident) and she has a couple of differnt styles of chairs. I'm sure they make one that works. Heck, if you can build the frame, I am sure you could alter a chair to fit it if you needed to.
If you decide to tackle it, keep us posted. I know I would be interested in seeing it.
Good luck,
Wayfat

Jim, check out the "other cool rides" forum for some ideas. In the rocket chair a small engine could be mounted behind the chair where the tank is. it has dragster front wheels/tires on the rear and go kart wheels on the front, also has headlights/tailights/turn signals (??), rearview mirrors. for ease of charging and maintenance and for running indoors you could always go with electric motors and batterys and joy sticks for controllers and drive like a (zero turn radius) ZTR mower.

Also checkout the cool Tank Chair in that same thread. Good Luck.
