View Full Version : Honda Clone Throttle Hook up and Governor

I am setting up the throttle on my 6.5 HP Honda clone and I wondered how you guys have done this before.
Do you set up the throttle to actuate the "fast/slow" arm and leave the governor in place, or should I attch directly to the plastic throttle arm on the carb?
Either way I need a stiffer spring to return the throttle.
On removing the governor, can the linkage be removed without removing the governor arm?

I did search the archives, but could not find exactly what I was looking for as far as the answer to the question on throttle linkage.
I also wondered what the governor limited the RPM to.
If the spring on the govorner is "zip tied" does that disable the governor?
The way I am headed I will NOT remove the governor.
I will hook up the throttle cable to the fast/slow linkage with a stiffer spring to snap the throttle back.

I don't deal with the stock carb setup. But if your ever looking for more power. I sell a carb and intake setup that will give a good boost in power.
Check this out.

I might be interested on my next project. Does the carb work well with a 5.5 hp motor? And of course how much?

Yeah I use them with just about any OHV, and OHC moto from 5hp-7hp. The bigger 7hp Subaru is the only motor to need a larger main jet. The intake is from a Briggs Animal. All you do is slot the mounting holes just a bit and mount it on. If you have a briggs OHV no minor grinding is needed. I can also do the grinding for free, if you tell me what motor you have.
The carb alone is $65 plus $8 for shipping and the intake alone is $10 plus $5 for shipping. If you get both together there $70 plus $10 for shipping.

What brand and size of carb is this and how does the throttle cable attach? Is the manifold straight or does it offset. I am having problems with my air cleaner hitting the rear leg of my barstool and need a manifold that will offset the carb forward. Figured I may upgrade to a better carb also. Could you attach pics of the manifold on a honda or clone (looking down on it from top)? If everything works out how do I order this carb and manifold?

Those are the only pictures I have right now of the setup. One picture shows from the top.
The carb is a PZ22 (22mm) and the intake matches it perfect. Manifold it straight. The cable ball will usually have to be shaved just a bit to slide through the cable hole and then it locks right in.
If I take one out of the plastic people will think it's used. I did that motor for someone. I have done plenty of installs on many different motors.
Here is the same carb and intake setup on another motor.
