All of the parts you have listed are "FUN KART" quality parts and are fine for stool building....but...it all depends on your budget and the look you want...for most of us there is fun in finding parts from multiple sources that fit our budget and have the right look to make it look individual....If the cost seems high....it might be a little for this quality of parts...but most will tell you that stools ain't cheep....except the ones that really look that way....and even those in't cheap!

sorry, kartworld was not included in my rant, my rant was toward some bay sellers padding the shipping, and not just kart parts just cuz I'm in Alaska.... i've never ordered from kartworld, I bet they had cut rate prices....

my recommendation is to contact the seller first before you buy and ask him how much shipping should be. 22 dollars shipping for tie rods? did you leave him bad feedback?

Well, Mike, thanks for asking. Up until yesterday, all I had was 20ft of tube and a 5hp 2-stroke that needs carb work. Last nite I found a friend is parting out a Polaris snowmachine,(he's using engine and suspension) So I should be able to get some goodies there... I haven't looked, but he says the machine has a 1" keyed jackshaft, and I can get the full disc brake setup too. maybe the tierods I can get from it too....
With this new development, I need to wait until I see what all I can get from him...
Edit, Dunno if that shaft will do much good...

Hey all,
I'm the F N G, great site, I'm collecting parts to build a BSR, started by parting out an old Race Kart, wheels,hubs,brakes,spockets,etc...
I have been searching for steering stuff, i'm torn between handle bars, or steering wheel.
if I could find where to get the hand controls I've seen on a few BSRs, I would go with the wheel fur sure. I'm looking for the butterfly type throttle and brake levers on the column under the steering wheel. they look similar to the clutch levers for the shifter karts.but a little larger
Any ideas???
, Are they all custom fabbed?, i've seen a couple, and in the pics they look damn near identical, thought some one may be making them???
Thanks

1100kaw,

There has been some posting in the forums about using a steering wheel -vs- the handle bars. For the most part, the steering wheels look cool, be preform bad. It is much harder to steer your barstool racer at high speeds than using a handle bar.

Also, I find my right wrist sore from coming down from wheelies untwisting the throttle. I suppose it depends on how "quick" your twist throttle is, but i gotta take a big 'ol half twist out of mine for full throttle, so my wrist is in a curled position when I come down.
Thumb throttle should work much better, but the one I have now is for 1" bars.

I've got a cheap solution to the problem. I went to a bicycle store (handles mountain bikes) and got a right and left brake lever that hinged in the mounting (where it goes over the handlebars). I mounted them on the steering wheel but I had to cut the rubber on the steering wheel to get them to fit correctly, but if I hadn't told you that, you'd never notice it. Cost me a whole $16 dollars for the levers. They also work on handlebars for the throttle and brake levers rather than a twist throttle. They are fairly small and don't look out of place.

Guy,

You can get a thumb throttle for around $10.00 on eBay. I have one I might be getting rid of that fits the 7/8" handle bars if my old throttle setup will work with the cable.

Let me know if you might want it...
