I am currently working on a keg  gas tank. I found this website that sells the exact same size bung and cap to match the opening on the top of the keg.

238Filler cap with steel bung$22.50
I then found a petcock that matched the same opening of where the tap was 3/8. I just gently removed the tap and that new petcock screws right in. I don't know how to weld on really thin metal so I am going to give it the JB Weld treatment (A great Mike Bean suggestion). From reading the package they say it will work with fuels and oil... well see how that will work. I just don't know if it will hold, but if it works it sure is a lot easier then welding. Tomorrow after it cures I'll do the same with the petcok.
The only other thing I found that would be of comparison and don't want to go though the trouble was this website. They have tanks that are aluminum, but nothing like a real keg.
