Has anyone made a BSR street legal? If so what did you have to do?

it could be street legal... head light blinkers all the saftey stuff horn too, call it a bike, and you must wear the old helment. I have seen a dirt late model street legal, a sprintcar, and a 600 legends car, a friend of mine is working on a winston cup car street legal "KIT CAR" as we call it.

I woulod think you can if you have the right safety equipment. This would also require you to register it and get a tag. But with the way gas prices are today, it would be a greay way to get around a smaller town.

Actually, if your bsr was street legal you would have more reasons to fab new stuff like licenses plat holder, brake light mounts etc...

The only thing I would be worried about is someone plowing into me. But then again, build a cage for it... :D

I just called the tax office and the lady was real nice and she is going to fax me over all the forms. How is a 4 wheel cart going to pass as a motorcycle? She told me they registered a golfcart for street legal use as a low speed vehicle.

But gokarts are not legal. LOL

i would think that the hurdle will be the DOT-approved part of it.
There is probably safety minimums, such as safety tested welding or visibility issues.
But I don't think one of us has DOT approved wheels or tires. And i wouldn't have it any other way.

what are DOT approved wheels?

Department of Transportation approved for street use.
DOT approves helmets and a million other things that go on the road.

I have a number of "off road only" parts on my truck which is the manufacturer's cute way of saying that they couldn't get DOT approval.

Hello, Here in the state of Texas. The only way to get a Offroad Only Vehical legal for the road is, # 1 Would be used for Farm use Only, # 2 is it must have a Red flag extended, # 3 Must have a special perment that costs Only $ 10.00 year, # 4 Driver must wear a DOT Helment, # 5 can Only be used up to 3 miles from Farm, # 6 Driver must have drivers license, # 7 can not be used on any Interstate Highways or Major Highways, Farm road or County roads Only. I have seen several ATV's that have that here. I guess you could pull a trailer with fence building material in it of other farm supplies and pull it with a bsr but as far as in city riding you can not get a liscense for it! To make it street legal and register it is a big problem everything would have to be DOT approved and would have to get a builders title to register it! It could be done but the cost of it would be very very costly and time cosumming. Not Worth it. You could pay say 100 tickets for illegal use on public road and still be under what it would cost to be Legal! LETS USE RIDE ON LAW BREAKERS!! LOL :hot:
Hey here's a idea if you build your bsr to be fast enough to out run a police car for say 3 blocks they would propably just let you go because they would not want to call into dispatch and tell them they where in hot pursuit of a Man or Woman on a Barstool going in excess of 50 mph!!! LMAO
