When I built mine, I bought the master parts kit thru this site. Included in that kit were the axle flanges and bearings needed for the rear axle. Below are links to the axle kit and a pic of my hangers tacked in place:

I used some pillow block style bearing mounts from a local Fleet and Farm supply.
search for the "cheapo barstool" to see the previous post.

those stores also supply the bearing and flange set up its not that much more money. you can also buy keyed axles. Why spend 80 % of the money for 20 % of the quality. You will just end up spending it in the end.
Just my experience

you could get a wheel with a hub with bearings and a sprocket on it (like a minibike), and have single wheel drive. you may need some kind of jackshaft to get from the motor to the sprocket, though.
I have a bsr with single wheel drive. but it doesn't handle so well on loose surface. it tries to push you sideways
good luck

i went there today. they had the bearings in the right size but not the housing. and i didnt see any axels there. ive been in that store alot an they dont have that. i only really need to buy a rear axel, hubs, and maybe a brake if i dont make one. considering this is going to be a starter cart not a bsr im going to have much more ballance because im going to be on the gorund. and can distribute some of the weight with the battery im going to be using. im gonna start a thread when i start making the frame this weekend.
