im starting my frame on my starter cart this weekend hopefully. im using alot of golf cart parts. im pretty much in budget so far. im only looking to spend 200$ but im still deciding on what size square tubing im going to use. gonna buid it first then make it nice. i still need a starter, battery, axel, rear hubs, seat, sprocket, chain, and alot of wiring stuff. so i got a pic of how i want it laid out so here is a teaser pic. the summer is moving way fast so im doing what i can when i can.

got some parts today at the local farm and fleet and lowes. it took like a week to get the pillow block housing i wanted. i also found hubs that i can weld gears to. but i diddnt buy the gears yet because i need to wait to figure out what gear ratios i want to run. since these are going to be welded right ot the hub i bought two for diffierent ratios. i also got 1/4 inch keys. my friend works at lowes so i got a discount on the sprinkler pipe and the flat stock. i spent 80$ today but i still need to get a rear axel and hubs for the wheels to finish a rolling chasis.

those are called pillow block....

now the "retainer" (yours on silver) looks pretty light to me...

I would use some like this...and they have the bearing already installed...

maybe an option to consider...you donīt want your axle falling at 40 mph!

i might go to that if this doesnt work out. it was a little bit more and had a grease fitting on it. the peice actually seperates so you can put the bearing in it. they have a little gap but im sure when you tighten the bolts its gone. im assuming you need a bearing press to get bearings in there for that type of holder and i dont have one. i kept the tags so who knows. im still getting parts, axle and rear hubs should be here tomorrow.

no sir you won´t need a press to get it out...

just need someone to show you, its pretty easy... 2 mins max....

are you waiting for all of your parts before starting the frame?

yea. my friend who is helping me weld it up is hard to get ahold of. so i want to have all of the peices first so i dont have to go back, even though i might have to anyways.

We run the pillow block bearings on the karts for my track and they last a long time. Changing the bearings takes about a minute and you can change it with no hand tools...just your hands.

The smaller ones might work but at 40mph you really don't want might.....

What size and where did you get the wheels and tires?

Are you asking what size bearings or what size tires? I'll check in the morning for the tire sizes but the axel is 30mm. The metric thing is a pain but I've got the rims, tires, used axels, spindles all for free. Some parts I can't use on the track but work fine for things like this.
