Sniffles,
I would not worry about the suspension, most likely you will bottom out on and normal speed bump.

Why not use the spring on top of your spindle. you can get extended spindle mounts for those. If you cant find them give me a shout.

The spring on top of the spindle idea is an idea from the original battery and starter motor BSR design. It is not really a suspension for bumbs such. It allows the spindle to move enough in the turns to allow the inside rear ( solid hard rubber ) tire to slip ( no differential ). you can cut down a valve spring for a try....

With a high CG and short wheel base, I don't think suspension is a good idea.

hey thats a good idea but it might be kinda expensive. there yardkart website called http://atvplans.com/ . theyv got a small atv. you could use the same style front suspension. you would just have to put foot pegs out of a strong steering shaft, use one A arm on each side, connect the suspension coil from the A arm to the foot peg.

How about something like this, I saw it on the BMI web site, and I made something similar on my kart. It helps a little.

I now begin to wonder if anyone reads the past information posted on this forum!...this is th esqame type of idea used on electric BSR's...the real BSR"S that all of this started from....does anyone have the "wherewithall" to research anything or just depend on the advise of the few that participate in this forum!!....The spring ( it was a valve spring on the electric stools ) was to allor "unloading " of the inside rear wheel in a turn....because the simple...crude...designs did not have a diff to help turn the stools....I would suggest that anyone experimenting with suspensions try a real suspension...like the one I have on my stupid electric wagon ...it has billet aluminum dropped front axle and 4 link rear differential electric transaxle with coilover shocks all around......for no reason other than SHOW...and it all works.....

Rubicon,
What you are saying is very common among forums. Most people would rather post a new question than do a search. I am guilty myself.
I have learned to use the search more because most of the time my question has already been asked and answered, and then I do not have to wait for an answer and usually there are already several answers.

I am not fussin'...It is great that there is a wide range of interests and abilities...from those that care nothing about the build and just want to buy one built and ride ( great for those building commercially ) and those that want an outlet for developing the manly art of cutin'...weldin'...and grindin'...for me I enjoy walking a different path to explore design and fabrication details that are at least a little different....it gives me the ability to appreciate and value some of the strange and unconventional approaches seen here.....best said...."IT"S ALL GOOD!"....constructive support is great....keep it up

I built a miniature 4 bar set up on my flyer ,with the short springs above the king pins as well . I did all this as If you are running one wheel drive on the rear ,and the wheel goes into a rut ,you lose drive ,but with the suspension it flexes anuf to keep the drive wheel on the deck !

why not biuld it so it looks like it has suspension but is fixed, little coilovers machined up with car valve springs on the outside, looks cool but actually wont hinder handling.
