I just got my sale flyer from Harbor Freight and what did I see on page 5?

Their version of the 6.5 HP Honda OHV engine on sale for $129.99.

Oh, and on the back cover is a coupon for $15 percent off any single item in the store, so that would make this engine $110.49!

Sale ends 7/23/07.

Watch how U talk some people round here don't like the word clone. I think it is just fine like the word generic.

I have read somewhere that the clone/generic (sorry) are actually some pretty good engines as long as you do not take the governor off of them.

I would expect a little less life span also, but hey, it is a cheap way to go and I am sure you would not be running them as hard like they were on an actual real application like a wood splitter or concrete mixer...

Anyone got some input on a clone they have used?

Just my .02 cents...

Mike, I have heard of some lasting forever and some not long at all. I guess its the luck of the draw!

I have used 3 of them, all different brands without any problems. Some of the Honda factory parts work without any issues. I have removed the govenors on 2 of them. No problems except for a little valve float at the upper rpms (the end of a high speed blast). The cure for this is a stiffer valve spring (a Honda part) that I now have, but have not installed yet. Both of these motors use a filter adapter to attach a K&N style filter and a header made for a Honda, no fit up problems.

I got all three of mine off of eBay, spent $100 delivered on 2, and $159.95 for the last one delivered. The last one was a Sterling brand, the others were a Power King and a Jiang Jong (sp??)...

I got mine on sale and opted for the 2 year extended warranty and that brought it back up to regular price. So it's garrantied to last for 2 years.

I've used a couple of them. Pull the gov. off and get stiffer valve springs, an adjustable main jet helps too. Opening the exhaust and putting the air filter adapt. on makes them run lean. You can get the parts for not alot of money from some of the kart racing sites.

I have 4- 5.5 h.p. Clones on air compressors...2- 11 h.p. Clones on generators...Just put a 6.5 h.p. on a Little Wonder Blower...I have 2-11 h.p. on my go kart...2- 6.5 h.p. on Barstools...The only issues that I have ever had was when the gov. was removed ...They seem to run best when left stock...Instead of trying to get more power or speed out of these , just move up to the next h.p. model...I just bought a golf cart that I am going to put a 24 h.p. Clone in ...Hoping to get about 45 mph...We'll see. Snakester:cool_dude:

I bought a 4 wheeler with a 110 clone on it and the screw in the choke flap vibrated out and dropped in the cylinder and bent both valves. I found a place online and bought two valves for 35 bucks lapped them in used the old gaskets and it ran great. Just doesnt have a choke now. Watch those choke flap screws.
