Hey, just a quick note. Took my BSR on it`s maiden voyage and threw the keyway on the sprocket! I swear all was tight. (checked twice) anyway , 3 times around the hood....several thumbs up from (the good neighbors)and I noticed some slipping.Got it back to the garage and noticed the keyway went for a ride. I think I`ll add a third set screw to hold the keyway!! Anyway, what a blast! Just a 3.5 Honda and a standard clutch and it goes pretty good. Take care, Heff

Glad to hear you are having a good time with your BSR.
Set screws can be a lot of trouble sometimes. You might try some "blue" locktite on the set screw but if that fails install a small stainless steel worm clamp that will fit around the axle and key.

Thanks, I think maybe the key was a little under sized and vibrated out. Both set screws were tight, but did spin a couple times around the shaft causing some damage.

Use clamps that are used for tightening gas heater ducts...
you know those that are tightened with a screw...
no more falling!

Hey Heff,
I once lost my key on the brake disc, I am glad I was not going very fast because I had no brakes.
I would recommend using some blue loctite on all of the set screws (axle bearings, brake disc, and sprocket). And I would also put a steel lock collar on each side of your brake disc and sprocket hub. This way your key cannot slip out and if your set screw comes lose your rear sprocket and brake disc will be held in place and not start slipping around and possibly brake your chain.
Just an idea I used and I never had a problem again.

Thanks Mike, I already drilled a 3/16" hole and tapped a 1/4-20 thread for a set screw to hold the key. Definately going to locktite all of them though.I like the steel collar idea too! Heff

If your still having the problem with the key moving, go to the side where the key and axle are and use a punch and ping it on both sides. We did ours and haven't had them to move yet. Just a hint if you wanta try it. Lynn

Thanks Lynn, the extra set screw is working very well. I like your idea though.Much simpler and effective! Heff
