Was wondering if anyone has ever tried using the brakes from a motorcycle on their BSR. Would it lock the wheels up to easy? Could you use the cluch master cylinder (for left hand control) and hook it to a break caliper? Ussually your brake master cylinder on a motorcycle is right hand and you wouldnt want your brake on the same side as your throttle. Been looking at this idea because I could get the parts for next to nothing from a motorcycle salvage. I have a manual caliper, but would prefer hydraulic. What are you all's thoughts on this.

Hey Raven, from what I`ve read, a hydraulic system is best. Yes, you can definately lock up the rear tires.I had the perfect system lined up and then he decided not to give me a deal on it(some friend!). A snowmobile brake is a left control and the caliper is pretty small too.The one I was looking at was from an Artic Cat. My next BSR will have one along with a TAV 2 and 6.5 HP!!! Heff

Thanks for the info Heff. I ended up finding a left hand master cylinder, line, and caliper on ebay for $12.95. It fits a 90cc four wheeler and has never been used. the caliper is only about 3"x2.5".

yes this is the system i used http://wheelworld.com/itemdetails.cfm?catalogId=39&id=3864
and i'm a machinist so i made the mount myself, but it looks like you could modify some of the other types of mounts that are out there.

Brett,
That looks great! I thought about a bike brake, but was wooried about getting the disc mated up to the axle. I think the atv brakes are going to work out fine, and the price was even better. That brake looks really good. How about some pics of the whole stool. Keep up the nice work.
