Width is all whatever you need, or the width of your bar stool. Measure your engine, I've seen some pretty wide bar stools out there. And I personally think it looks cooler and adds a bit more excitement trying to fit the engine under a stool. the length depends slightly on the tires you want to use. You don't want them to hand over the rear of the frame much if at all and same for front, and must clear the side plates if you put any. Mine clear by maybe 1/4 inch if that. And mine is just about 36 inches from axle to axle i believe.

Hey Speeddemon, mines 27" from center to center of axles. The width , from outer edge of tire to outer edge of tire is 38" in the rear and 36.5" in the front. Thats what I ended up with using the plans from this site. My stools legs were 14.5" apart c-c. So my frame is 15" wide and my small Honda fits nicely under it.. Heff

ok.. i still havent started bulding it.. just cleaning up some of the tubing ill be using ( 3/4" square ) and then gunna set up the rear axel

so far my plans are to TRY the cent clutch i have ( rated for 8hp but the 9hp is producing mabey 11ho so i dont think it will hold ) and if it doesent im gunna go with a jackshaft set up and put on a manual cluch with a belt from the motor to the jackshaft, then chain from jackshaft to rear axel... and that was i can play with gearing alittle bit also!!;)
