hey Ken,
Looks great!! how do you stop it, feet on the front tires like I do mine? Love the color. I built one for a friend of mine, and he painted it orange, and it looks good.
Keep up the great work.

hey wayfat, I put a brake band on the clutch to help keep everythning clean, I wasnt sure how it would stop but it locks up the tires with very little effort. DTb, I actually built it from sch 40 and used a hf pipe bender, I'll get some vid this weekend

Ken, some questions for you.

Did you chop the seat yourself? re-weld or rivot?

got a pic of the brake band on the clutch?

what type handle bars those off of?

looks great....

hey Fenters, I cut approx 6" ffrom the stool and welded it back, The handle bars are off of a BMX bike i had laying around. Here are some pics of the bars and the clutch set up. If i remember correctly this is the same set up woodchuck customs uses on his BSR's, I was suppreised to see how well they worked, it locks up the rear tires at any speed with little effort. I have to watch myself so I wont flat spot the tires........lol I had to make a bracket to hold the band in place also.

looks good thanks. any side shots of the clutch? sorry for all the trouble. I have never thought of that. How do you like the 3.5 and clutch? I have a 3.5 tecumseh and a clutch for this one, Its meant to just be a cruiser.

mudboger07
October 26th, 2007, 12:01 AM
I'll take some shot tomarrow with out the stool on. The 3 1/2 and clutch are ok for just cruising, it actually gets up to speed pretty well. I found out the hard way to put about 1/8" toe out in the steering. it handles so much better. I'm still using a 12/60 for gears a 12/72 would be much better.

Hey Ken, looks great! nice job. My next one will be made with round tubing also. Still can`t believe toe-out gives better control. It goes against all I learned in auto mech. class in high school( long time ago!). Anyway I think I`ll try it just to see. Again, NICE JOB! Heff

Fenters, here are some pics of the brake set up, hope these help. At the bracket were the spring attaches you will need to attach a small bar 1/4" rod will work to help hold the band away from the clutch, this helps it from dragging on the clutch other than that thats all I did. the brake band is from northern tools for $14.00 It will lock up the tires at any speed so be careful........lol

thanks heff, Ya i did'nt belive it either toe out that is..... Ive been working on cars for about 25yrs and ahave always set them up with toe in but then again these aint cars.....lol I ask a buddy at work who races kart and the first thing he ask was wat the toe out was set to so since they always place in the top 5 i figured id take his advice.....lol
Schulz, the stool started out at 28 1/2" tall, I cut the frame just above the bottom ring and took 6" from the top half of the stool then rewelded it. from the bottom of the stool to the top of the seat is now 22 1/2" hope that helps. BTW heff, after cruising this around the neighborhood ive got 4 people that want me to build one for them....lol I guess ill have to place a big order with mike before long..lol what do you think a good going price would be?

Heff
October 27th, 2007, 09:13 PM
Hey Ken,I don`t know what you could get but I think that once you told them how much the parts alone cost it would scare 2 or 3 people away! The next one I build I`m going to try to keep better track of my hours. I think I only have about $600 into mine but I didn`t have to buy a motor and several other parts. Heff

mudboger07
October 27th, 2007, 10:09 PM
Thats pretty close to what I have in mine, I already had the motor, the axle I got at work along with the tread plate. the tire I got used for $150.00 at a local race shop, hours i would say maybe about 30 with all the fab work and grinding and sanding....I'm thinking maybe around $1200 for starters with all new parts.

Chris, here are a couple of pics before and after it was cut down, the measurements are the stool started out at 28 1/2" tall, I cut the frame just above the bottom ring and took 6" from the top half of the stool then rewelded it. from the bottom of the stool to the top of the seat is now 22 1/2" hope this helps i didnt take any of the stool when i was cutting it down.

mudboger07
October 29th, 2007, 11:06 AM
Photobucket is free and easy to use, when you sign up just make sub folders for what ever is needed. It gives you different options to post pics 4 i think. Give it a try, if you have any problems let me know and I'll see if i can help. Randy my sun in the vid is 7yrs old. his my shadow, i cant do anything without him next to me witch is kewl. He's even drove my dune buggy.....lol

Sorry guys I havent been on in awhile, Fenters I use a harbor freight bender, it works ok so far, you have to take your time when bending as not to over bend the pipe. I've built 2 projects with it thought the bsr and this buggy,

ok i was just wondering where did you get your clutch or is it just put on backwards

mudboger07
December 25th, 2007, 11:32 PM
hey fenters, I used the orange bender, t seems to work pretty well, jrick, i bought clutch at northern tool for about $40, I nstalled it backwards to get the chain were i needed it, i would higly suggest getting a TAV though, i there a little more $$$ but well worth the money.

jrick24
December 26th, 2007, 12:39 AM
ok that TAV where do you get that from and why is it better caus im going to end up having to do the same cause my stool is small and my motor is big
