hi
im new to bsr and i was hoping to build my first one but i am a little confused with the drivetrain. i hope you will understand what i need to know.
i need to know if my idea will work. i have a 1in. keyed shaft and i need to know if the wheels will be held on properly or good enough. i was looking at princess auto and this is what i came up with. i weld a drive plate onto a weld on hub and attach it to the keyed shaft. then obviosly the wheels bolt onto it. the problem is i dont know if the hub will stay on as its only a set screw holding it. what do i do? is this how others do it? please help

Could not see your pics, but I think the answer to the question is shown in the photo.
The SPROCKET HUB is held in place with a setscrew and 3/16" square key in the axle shaft.
The WHEEL HUBS have the same square key and set screw, but also a 1" dia locking collar with set screw only (gold in color). Same with the AXLE BEARINGS, they have a locking collar on one side (black in color). This prevents lateral (left/right) movement of the axle/wheel assembly.
Hope this helps.

thanks for the info!!!!i think i understand.
so you set screw the hub onto the axle and bolt on wheel. and then where does the locking collars go? both sides of the hub, inside, or outside?

order of installation
drive hub with sprocket
left bearing
left bearing lock collar
left wheel lock collar
left wheel/hub
left wheel nut
right bearing
right bearing lock collar
right wheel lock collar
right wheel/hub
right wheel nut
Does that makes sense?

I suppose a non-treaded shaft would work with a lock collar but you can buy a 1" axle threaded any length for cheap
like this

make use you get some 1" nylock nuts to go along with the axle.

haha good ole princess auto!!! got one mabey.. 20 min from my house:)
why not.... drill into the ends of the axel about.. 1 1/2" deep and with a 5/18" bit and tap it to 3/8 .. and if you wanna get crazy.. on the left side of the axel.. get a left hand tap...

yes u put a 3/8s bolt into it (9/16s head) and with a washer big enough to hold the tire on. on the inside (closest to frame) u would have a lock collar to keep it fron sliding.
