Couldnt find a place to put this ,strictly its tech ,but.......
Whats the handling like when 2 rear wheels are driving ? I normally use 1 rear drive wheel and one hub with a bearing to freewheel ,giving a differential effect.Seeing that Go Karts 'slide' round corners,is it hard on the steering to pull a BSR round at a slower speed? Ive read the handle bar/s/wheel comments ,and altho' the s/wheel looks cool,I think the bars would give more control?

I am going with the handle bars also...I just started building mine, but from what i have heard and read....
1.) Handle bars have way more control verse steering wheel and any type of foot pedals...
2.) The Live axle does restrict turning but if you lean into it alittle, shouldnt really be a problem
3.) Small differentials with the sprocket and brakes botled to the diff itself is the ideal setup
4.) I've heard people say that when they use the hub with bearing, the bsr likes to turn that way when accelerating/braking..(but thats also dependant on the HP)
Like i said...im currently building mine right now but that is some useful information i've gatherd from others on around here.
Hope that helps

Point taken . I notice ,especially with my flyer ,that the hard acceleration does tend to pull the thing to one side . Didnt occur to me it was the axle set up ,i thought it may be the frame out of true! When it pulls hard to one side ,thats the point you tend to overcompensate, and pull the steering the other way ,leading to a 'twitch' which starts a slalom effect .The steering wheel is difficult to control in this situation ,so I reckoned the bars would give more leverage ,and you'd have more bottle to accelerate out of it ! Of course ,beer doent help, as it only gives you the courage to hit the pedal in the first place. The beer only helps when it numbs the pain as you hit the ground ,scrapin' yer arm or whatever!!!!

Just my 2cents, but son-in-law and I have steeriing wheels on all of ours and both wheels pulling and they work great for us. Tried a friends handlebar bsr and didn't like it,guess it's just what your use to. Ours are twitchy at full pedal, but I getting too old to be full pedal all the time. Hope ya'll enjoy yours as much as we do. Wifes got one, daughter got one and I'm building one for me with a 32 ford body on it, only hotrod I'll be able to afford. gotta go to the shop and get something done. Have fun with yours. Lynn

well.. i like handle bars.. easyer to control and if you uses the stem and head set from a bike.. its adjustable!!!
and 2 wheel drive is the way to go!!! last night we lost a keyway in the right tire.. and we ewre out on the lawnmower track.. and wed come outta the corner and just spin the one tire.. dident grab at all unless you let off the gass.. i think (9 hp and a clutch that enguages at 3700RPM is a bit much for a bsr!)
even on the road!! be goin along and just giver and it would staret spinning then it would pull to the right ( lost the key in the right tire )
it was fun spinnin the tire tho.. get it smoking and then slowly take off.. haha

I have handle bars but not sure that is what keeps me from not being twitchy, mine never gets bad handling except at full throttle and one side starts to come up because the turn was a little to hard, and for mine that only happens when i turn right, i designed it to turn left really good because I plan to race it on short oval tracks in the area. I would use a solid axle, mainly because it is less weight.

the handle bars, the wider they are the more you have to move them.. the shorter they are the more sensitive they are... like a wrench on a bolt.. get a short wrench and see how much you can tighten a nut, then go on the same one with a long wrench you need to move it more to move the net less.. BUT you have more control and more tourque on it...
my stool if i turn a corner and open it up a little bit it will almost stop turning becasue it just lifts the front end.. and thats at about 20km/h BUT it will not pull whelies:(
go with a solid axel.. youll be impressed!!! and IF you feel you really need to, take a keyway out of the one side and put lots.. LOTS of high temp grease on the axel and hub and go for a ride ( be casrefull if your running aluminum hubs.. dotn go for long it will wreck them!!) when are keyway fell out.. and we went to get moving from a dead stop.. it wasent working to well.. even on the road and putting weight onto the left rear ( the side the key dident fall out ) and it would spin for mabey 20feet even after we did a nice smoke show!!

usually we use a zip-tie and it will hold it in there fine....
