I'm thinking of building my next BSR with a shorter frame length/ width to make it more wheelie and side-wheel capable. My current frame is 33"L and 18"W, a 29" wheel base... Using a TAV-2 and a 5.5 Briggs, it would only have about 6" center to center between sprockets. A lowered stool and steering would be part of it, along with mandatory wheelie bars. Any ideas on how wide (outside of tire to outside of tire) I should go? Any inputs and/ or pics would be great...

Hi Chris,

I am not sure if you purchased our plans. But both designs use a basic frame length of 34" and a width of 15" and they can ride on the side wheels and pull wheelies all day long with no problems.

Can you post a photo of you BSR?

Hey Chris, I helped build a racer with a 24" wheelbase . We had a 24" tall stool that we cut about 4" off of it. The width was the same as all the other racers that we build. It didn't take us long to figure out that the narrower wheels and tires work best...4" wide on front and 6" wide on rear. We put handle bars as wide as the outside width of the front tires. If the handle bars are narrow it turns the wheels to fast. We put a 3.5 Briggs on it and that was plenty of power. We used a clutch 11T and rear sprocket 40T...Don't forget Hyd. Brakes...Wheelie Bars...Maybe on both sides and on the rear...KILL SWITCH is a must...This racer is a lot of fun but Scary ...Will throw you off in a heartbeat. Snakester:thumb:

Snakester,
Great heads up on the bars and tire width! If I do it, I'll probably make the seat supports, and use one of those small bass boat style seats that Bass Pro Shops sells...
Mike,
I purchased both sets of your plans late in '06... great designs. I just modified them slightly for a more "personal" effect. I fat fingered the length in my first post; it's a 36.5" long frame which was needed to add a six-pack cooler rack. Attached are 2 pics of my BSR. http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l22/cjinsull/BSRscreensaver2.jpg?t=1177893726 http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l22/cjinsull/BSRinbackyard.jpg?t=1177893630
