I am machinist and have all kinds of cnc machines i can use.Has anyone ever made there own rims? I would like to do this for a few reasons:-

1) BECAUSE I CAN:laughing:
2) I will make them 1 piece with built in bearing/fixed hub.
3) They will be different design from anyone else.
4) Why not?

Seriously though, does anyone have a drawing or sketch of the actual size of a 6x6 and 6x8 rim? with the dimensions of the offsets, overall diameters etc? I did a search on the web but didn't find much.Any help info would be appreciated, thanks.:thumb:

i think it will cost you more on the chunk of aluminum and testing.. then it would be to go buy a complete set!!!

How expensive is free:laughing: The machine will run while i am doing something else, program/set up will not take long. The only cost i will have are the 4 bearings, and anodizing. I may end up buying a complete set, just looking to do something different from the norm.

I think he meant that the alum blank will be the expensive part, but then again if you just have chunks just sitting around...

We have some 8" dia 6061 aluminum that was ordered for a job that was not used, and has already been paid for, so for me its free:thumb: The blanks are 10" long so they will be perfect. There will be little expense on making these, just my own time.

Nice!

I will check at home, I think I have only 5" wheels though. I dont remember if I got any 6" in the package deal i found.

Hey ne-oublie, Sounds like a great idea...Could be a good home based business and I think Custom - 1 of a kind wheels for Bar Stools, Golf Carts and many more projects could be in big demand!!! I know I would be interested in a Custom set wheels...Post some pic's when production begins...I have a piece of aluminum 7" dia x 56" long and need to find a use for it. :cool_dude: Snakester

The idea of making custom wheels geared towards BSR's is a good one, however this would be a one off project.I will be able to make a set for myself, but not so sure the company i work for would appreciate me making/selling them. They will probably look similar to the Douglas wheels as they will be easy to make, but not sure yet.

i was actually thinking of making some a couple minutes ago, it would be an awesome idea seeing as you can do it for cheap, just buy a cheap set for measurements or just make your own from your own measurements.
