I used a vertical mill to machine my own motor plate, make welds flat, and make some other misc. parts for my BSR, like a steering bushing out of some ABS or delryn plastic.:cool_dude:

Our auto shop was on the second floor. I was out of high school for 10 years before the modernization and the ground floor auto shop. with 3 bay doors, too

My HS has no tools....but we have something better for the students. We have a multi-million dollar tech center for the 3 HS in the area. i just got accepted in the welding and manufacturing tech class. We are forced:thumb: to learn CAD and how to run the CNC Lathe mill and the 5 axis mill. So yeah I get two degrees one for HS and one for Tech Center and get to have my parent pay for my projects. Hello free go fast toys!:cool_dude:

I teach metal shop at the same school I attended in HS. We are fortunate to have a CNC plasma cutter, hand plasma, Miller 210, Haas SL-10 CNC lathe, and a few other goodies. Wish all those machines were there when I went to school.

Hell, we didn't have Engineering at my school, just bloody woodwork.
I'd be the best carpenter in the State if they had wood welding rods.
