Well, I did the unthinkable. I sent out my BSR to powdercoat with a plastic bushing in the steering column. How bad will it be? Your thoughts. Stooly

It could be bad newes. I thought about having mine done too, but I remembered the bushing. There is a chang=ce that the bushing got soft and took a tight mold to the 5/8 rod. If that happened, you should be able to break it free by turning the handle bars. It will undoubtably be tight, but will wear in.

When I built my second stool, I found a bronze bushing at the hardware store in the bulk bins. All I had to do was file the OD to fit into the 1" square tube. It works great, and can be oiled if needed.

Unless the powder coater notices the bushing and removes it it will be history. Sorry...

It would depend on what type of plastic that you used. Powder is only cured at about 350-400 degrees, it may be ok...I had something done that had a nylon bushing in it and it was ok.
