Ok this is my first post of the forum. I am getting ready to start building my first BSR. I am trying to get my hands on the motor first. Looking for a dirt bike w/ tranny 100/125ish. I am going to buy the plans for the frame and the frame from here. I am wanting to have a suicide shifter on the left side of the stool to hit the different gears. Any suggestions on where to put the clutch. Thought about maybe putting it on the shifter. Do you guys suggest handle bars or a steering wheel? I am not wanting a BSR that does weelies. So do you extend the frame, put on harder tires? Any help would be a big help.

What i did was get a small 3.5 hp engine and i took the parts and gears out of a manual mower transmissionand made a four speed separate trans, but i had to mount the engine on backwards to get the trans to turn the axle forward. The cool thing is that i dont even have to get off of it to push it backwards. I also figured out that the first gear is extremely low so when i gun it in first gear i cant keep the front end on the ground.

Hello Cris,
I have built 2 barstool racers in the past and have a whole bunch of parts that will help you build your racer for cheep. Included is a honda replica (chinese) engine 4 speed with auto clutch and a techumsi engine with torque converter, tires, wheels, hubs, and other crapola. E me at l4foto@aol.com or call at 707-422-0706. The parts are just sitting around since I went to electric and I will make you a deal you can't refuse. I live 40 miles West of Sacramento,Ca.
