I was reading thru the #50 issue of Engine and Wheels and descovered they were using a differential from Northern Tool to replacate a steering box. Verry interesting............terry

Yes #50 isn't link that works.
If you are talking about the Heavy Duty Differential Axle from northern tool, not to sure how that would work. I use it as an axle myself.

Funny, I have a picture that I downloaded from them. shows a northern Tool #1369 differential. By attaching one axle to the frame and a pitman arm bolted where the sprocket is mounted and a steering wheel on the other axle they end up with a 2 to 1 ratio. Because of copyright laws I am not sure that I can post the picture. Sorry............Terry
