Hello all- Quick question... I am starting on my first BSR and have a 5.5 Intek engine. I am not quite sure what would be the easiest/best way to make the engine throttle return to idle with a "add-on" spring as mentioned in several other posts. I have already loosened the flanged nut so the throttle travels freely, but where is the best place to add the spring for idle return? (also, I intend to leave the governor linkage all in place at this time). Attached is a picture of what I am working with. Thank you in advance for any suggestions!

I used a throttle pedal return spring from a Mitsubishi fork lift. As a fork lift mechanic, I had access to boxes of parts. We are no longer a Mitsi dealer so they have all been returned to Mitsubishi. Find an industrial dealer in your area and talk to the parts dept. A real good parts guy can help you out. Good luck. Hello and thanks for the reply. To clarify, I am asking where do I run the "add-on" idle return spring FROM and TO. I have read several members mention they hook one end of the "add-on" spring to the muffler shield.... but where do you suggest to hook the other end? (such as: directly to the carb butterfly, or governor arm, etc.)
Also (if it matters), I intend to leave the governer hooked up and functional at this time.
Thank you!!

Remove the fasteners, washers and lockwasher on the pivot shaft of the throttle arm. Set the spring over the pin and replace the fasteners . I made a small notch on the sheet metal bracket to holld one end of the spring. the other end of the spring should be bent arount the throttle arm. Be sure not to tighten the nut all the way down. This wil defeat the purpose of the spring. I wish I could explain this better. Good luck. Frank
