Will a piece of 5/8 ID tubing fit in the square tube? use the rund tube as a bushing/guide.

Take a piece of 1/2" PVC tubing about 4" long and shave the outside down so that you can hammer it down into your square tube. Then bore the hole to 5/8" and weld a washer over top of the tube(also 5/8").

Menards( a home improvement store here in Mi. ), also sells a 5/8" brass bushing that works really well in both the top and bottom pivot points of the column. They can be shaped and pressed into the square tube also. The brass bushing eliminates any squeeking when you turn your stool.

Hope this helps.....Heff

I took two brass nipples, each 2 inchs long from HomeDepot and ground down the outside of them til they were still tight enough to hammer in. One on top and one on the bottom. The 5/8ths rod fits nice and works great. Sorry no pics at this time. Coming soon.
