I just bought some inexpensive Kenda tires from Northern Tool. My BSR is almost complete and I will have it running this weekend. I am just curious as to what the tread life is of a tire on a BSR?

when it comes to tires, you really do get what you pay for. Tires like yours are made to be mounted to things like hose reels and yard wagons. In this application they last forever but they are not made for the abuse of bsr. If i were you i would save your money and buy a set of douglas rims and racing go cart tires its worth it and you can pick up used tires for next to nothing also you can continue to use the rims!! good luck and post sum pics with your bsr when it approaches finish .

I burned mine off the drive wheels the 1st summer I ran the barstool. If you dont mind changing them 10 bucks will set another pair.

nice ride!! im still working on my front end set up. for sum reason i cant get it very stable. i have tried 2 different set ups and neither seem to hold up. I saw one of the mike's pro streets and the front end on those seem amazingly sturdy! but again i dont want to try and figure all that out ill post some pics of my front end set up thiss weekend. but about the tires thats not that bad of a deal if your only paying 10 bucks. I went to a swap meet at my local fair grounds and picked up 4 douglas rims and dunlap slicks for $50 he wanted 75 but no one wanted them but me.

I'd recommend saving for some cart tires... I've had my Dunlop slicks for two years with no problems; even bought them used and mounted. FWIW, I'm sure the wider tires offer a bit more stability (if it can be had...), plus the cool factor can't be ignored!!

I just recently was able to run my bsr for the first time. After a few scary experiences with having no brakes and a sticky throttle I was actually able to drive it. The tires cheap tires seem to work ok, but they wear quick, and they are not at all "cool" lloking. I have my eyes on some Douglas rims on ebay. If I can come up with the cash I will by them. My current tires are cheap and ugly, but they did the job for now. Where might I find some decent tires? I have checked around a couple places. Is going used ok or should I look into new tires?

That is a great find! Wow! I did some browsing, but I am not sure about rim sizes. Is there a common size that most people use. I would hate to end up with an oddball size and have issues finding tires. Any suggestions would be great!

most of the time you will see 5" rim for treaded tires like the bridgestone rain tires. and 6" rims for slicks, its not hard tofind tires for either 5 or 6" rims best of luck and trust me a nice set of douglas polished rims will wake up your bsr. Makes it flashy lol add some diamond plate and youll have to beat the girls to get off you lol

at any rate good luck.

here is where i got my first set .. kinda pricey but look great and holding up great tooo.

Thanks for the info about rims and tires. I am going to check out your link. I am hoping to get some new rims in the next couple months. I found a site selling new Douglas rims for $35. Is that a good deal? I have seem some used ones for $27, but for the difference in cost I would go with new ones for $35. I got a sweet deal some diamond plate mudflaps that fit perfectly on my bsr to act as running boards so with some cutting they will fit nice. I found them to be cheaper than bulk diamond plate.
Thanks again for the info!

im using dp mudflapps too lol . planned on doing it this weekend but i ahve a reasearch report for one of my classes so ill be finishin that up but i may get a chance. im going to buy some polish though there really oxidized. But the reason i bought mine from him is simple. everything is brand new in box and all tires match and fit.$35 doug wheels is a good deal but will he have sets of em'. also when buying used tires make sure that they are teh same compund and that ther is still some rubber left. I just bout my first set of slicks and they acturally have little holes drilled throught the rubber so youc an see how much is left. Here is a vid of my bsr now that it is operational
