Regarding the plate that comes of the steering shaft.

Is the length of the arm from the steering shaft that the tie rods are bolted to as long as the spindle arms? Therefore meaning that when the handle bars are turned 30 degrees the wheel also moves 30 degrees? (-/+ Ackerman)

Or is there a ratio of the lengths used?

Thanks

The pitman arm is shorter than the spindle arm. I would guess a 30-50% difference from the pitman arm center point to the spindle center point. I think the ratio is perfect because the steering is not too touchy but also has a good sweep.

I'm guessing the pitman arm is of the steering shaft?

So if my spindle arm is 10cm from centre the pitman arm will be 5-7cms?

Yes thats the pitman arm. From center to center on the pitman arm is about 4.5cm.

The set ups most builders are using on these Barstools have a spindle length of @ 3"...The pitman length is @ 2 1/2". The pitman arm can be a little shorter and will slow down the speed that the wheels will turn and this will help with control and handling. When I was building Racing Karts I would fab the pitman arm with 3 holes to be able to adjust the steering for different tracks. On these Stools a small adjustment makes a BIG difference.:dizzy:
