hey guys, soon gotta drill out the spindles for the tierods and get them bolted up (guess i got the small hole spindles and the large hole tierods that he uses, so i have to goto a larger bolt size (which i forgot).
my question is, can a few people post pictures of how thier tierods are bolted to the spindles, is the tierod above or below the bolt hole for the spindle, is it just a bolt and locknut, or does everyone add washers to both sides for latteral clamping?? , im new to building these things and dont want to have a mistake that could cost me some skin and blood

I believe the hole size you need is 3/8". I use a 3/8" bolt with a flat washer and nylon lock nut on the bottom and thats it!
If I remember correctly, the tie rods go on the bottom side of the arm. I will see if I can upload a photo for you, or I am sure if you search, you will find one already on here.
Hope that helped!

I use the 3/8" Heim joint ends along with 3/8" cone washers, one on top and one underneath. These are used when the lateral angle of the tie rod is 5 degrees or more and it stops any binding between the Heim Joint, the Pitman Arm and the Spindle Arm.

Do you have a sketch of your pitman arm?

Yes I do, but I'll have to try to convert the CAD drawing over to a jpg format so you can see it.
I copied the design off our CRG shifter kart, as it gives you more ackerman in the steering geometry helping the BSR over steer, rather than understeer.

I have had a few requests for the CAD drawing of a Pitman Arm I drew up a few months ago. Here it is finally, I had to convert it from the CAD file to a jpeg file, so you can view it.
