Nice update Woodchuck....
Maybe i'll get into this one with a model T look front axle... maybe put an old McCulloch half out the front of the stool.... hmm, 48" Long, guess I'd have room for an old style trunk in the back...

jeez, I just spent well over $350 in some parts for my 1st BSR (clutch, 2 hubs, sprocket&hub, tie rods, axle kit w'bearings
shipping ate up about $100
UPS is high here in Alaska.
I'm interested, I know a few guys that build race cars, or repair regular cars. Everytime I ask them for help, the tell me what to do, but are very unlikely to actually do the work unless I pay them. Suppose I have that deal... that's cool, right? and the deadline isn't 'til the 6th of summer.
lemme put it like this: We've never seen this "BSR in person in my state, maybe there are other's that haven't either.
As a contestant, am I limited to the knowledge I now possess (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&safe=off&q=possess&spell=1) or can I draw from the cumulative knowledge of the racers in the great state of Alaska as long as I actually do work?
It may sound cocky, but I can't help thinking it'll come down to the wire, and I'll be discluded, on account of too much help.
Either that, or some state or reigion will bring in a ringer, lmao

Look, if it's a real deal, a can almost guarantee that Alaska can build one better than just about any other state in the country, but I want to be clear on some points...
1) does the engine need to be under the stool?
2) min height
3) the hole other stuff, like beer.

Build off is a great idea. Were will we be able to view contestant entries. I would sign up but my first BSR is a mike clone. Mabey next year if you do it again. After I have a chance to brain storm and come up with a few of my own ideas.

Sorry, I cannot compete. my length is too long by a few inches, and I'm getting professional help on the welding. I'm making all the cuts and tacks, but I'm leaving the finish welding to a body shop owner. In the long run, I'll have a stool that I know is safe, guaranteed against fall-apart.

Well, I'm back!.... I maybe could shave a few inches to come under the rules, but unfortunately cannot/ weld it myself.
I can't believe there's noone that has entered this yet.
Way short of 50 entries needed...
All I can say is there's a few hundred people in Alaska that just seen their 1st ever BSR.
July 2nd I ran the 1/8 mile @37mph, so people are just looking into this here.
Personally, I'm glad I had my friend weld my frame, if I'd crashed on the dragstrip in front 4-500 people at the NHRA sanctioned dragstrip, it'd given us all a black eye, and BSRs would never be allowed on that track again.
There's still time... dang, just need 1 from every state, lol.

OK, I do seem to be the undisputed BSR champion of all Alaska, and may be in a position to get a local DJ to ride mine out at the www.afc.tv (http://www.afc.tv) fights he's the announcer for. I know he rode a mini-chopper out once, and could maybe put a plug in for the site, but i'd need to know if this is on or not....
Lemme ask you this woodchuck.... if 10 people sign up from Alaska, and that's about it, is it still do-able with a diff prize money?

I think that sniffles should have a chance to enter too. Maybe his dad could register it for him and take him. I say this cause not so long before I was the only 16 year old kid in the welding classes, and lot´s of people tried to show the teacher I sucked, but I could weld better than them.

C´mon woodchuck, let his dad register it for him :D

At this point in time 10 people from alaska would be cool we would have to alter the prizes but that's do-able.:thumb: And sniffles the rule will bend for you and your dad but you will need to do the work on it brother:cheers:
