I mentioned that I had one of the Racers I built last year coming back for some modifications. (Before the guy hurt himself on it) Well, here are the pics of how it looked when I received it.
Missing one rear barstool leg. Installed their own Torq-A-Verter but it didn't fit. So they removed a leg. No big deal, right?
No brakes. Removed the mechanical brake I had on it, but couldn't complete the Hyd conversion.
Cut off the handle bars I had on it to put on new ones, but figured out welding a new one on was harder to install than it looked. Thus the ugly weld.
Started cutting off the original wheelie bar, but didn't complete the job.
Only had one engine mount bolt installed, and the rear bearing set screws are all missing. I leaned on the rear tire while it was in the air, and the whole thing moved across the frame until the tire hit. Good for drifting I guess???
So here are the pics.

Here are the mods I did to it. One picture of it completed snuck into the above post.
Cut all of the bar stool mounts off the frame and repositioned the stool over the engine with the Tav cover installed. Rewelded the mounts.
Made front and rear wings with mounts out of diamond plate.
Built a prostock style wheelie bar for it.
Cut off the complete rear frame cross bar and installed a new one. The old wheelie bar was connected to the frame too well to remove only it.
Installed the Hyd. braking system. Made all new brackets for the calliper and master cylinder.
Cut off the handle bars and cleaned off the bad section of steering column rod and rewelded it neatly.
Replaced the side foot rest diamond plate.
Installed a keyed ignition box under the seat. He wanted a positive lock so nobody could just take it from the garage.
I made him a chrome reflector mount for the rear.I think that about dose it. Four days of work. I think he'll like it now.

So I took the racer out tonight for a shake down ride before I return it to the owner. It seemed to run well. Not as fast as my personal racer, but not too bad. It is a stock 6.5 clone with a Tav and a 40 tooth rear sprocket.
All was going well. I think I must have made about 80 laps around the property. (Half Acre) It seemed to drift around well, and the brakes seemed OK. So all was well until someone forgot to throw the yellow caution flag for debris on the track. I have a 75lb yellow Lab that decided to drop a extreamly soft pile of yuck right on my path. It was too late by the time I saw it. Needless to say, the Dunlops flung it all over me and the racer. It was hanging from the spoilers and all. YUCK!!!! So I got it all cleaned up, but I sware I can still smell it. :eek2:
Have fun and ride safe!
