I have wanted to build a BSR for some time now and finally made the decision to move forward with it. I have designed my own frame and plan on using an 11hp Briggs engine with a comet torque converter and electric start left over from a previous project that was totaled. Here is the Solidworks rendering of what I have at the moment but I'm still working on details. I will post pics of the build if anyone is interested.

Here's a couple shots of the actual mock up of the engine and how it is going to fit in the frame. I'm designing the mount for the engine and jack shaft at the moment. The Solidworks rendering shows what I have come up with at the moment.

Thanks wayfat & c.shultz. I'm hoping this thing will do some serious speed when it's finished. If not I guess I will have to build aother one with the 640 Rotax engine I have that's been sitting around collecting dust.

Just got my bar stool today for only $38.99 shipped. Hopefully I can make some more progress this next week or maybe even this weekend if the wife lets me out of the house.

With 11 HP, you might want to think about a little extra wheelbase and definately wheelie bars. Maybe even a drag chute! Set up steering geometry carefully. So far it looks great. look forward to build photos.
Go FAST, but be safe. Cheers!

I'm definitely putting wheelie bars on and I did make the frame a little longer than what I have seen of other BSR's. The wheel base is 32".

My plan was to set this up so I can run both off road wheels and tires as well as karting wheels and tires. Since funds are a little tight at the moment I am going with the off road set up since I already have these in the shop and to get the karting tires I want is going to be about $275. Looks short and stumpy with the big tires.

I had the engine mounting plate water jet cut but didn't like it so I am waiting for another one to be cut so I can get the engine mounted and since I can't find a mini keg fuel tank I decided to go with the Jr. Dragster fuel cell which should look pretty cool.

Sorry for the double post....was trying to add another image and hit the wrong button.

I'll get some more pics when I start final assembly.

They are a 4 x 4.5 bolt pattern. The fronts have 3/4" bearings and the rears are for 1 1/4" axle. Can't remember where I purchased them since that was 8 years ago.
