first off been a while since ive posted in general. im that time frame ive built my gas barstool and its still work in progress but it is ride able. wrecked it once (twisted the front end up good).

anyways dad had putted on it some. it goes about 30mph and just enough speed to get the TAV@ to start working and hes content. so back to topic hes getting up there in years. his 68th birthday was this month and its getting hard for him to travel far on foot. few to many motorcycle wrecks. so im debating building a smaller version of my barstool but electric. so we can go to car shows and he can ride. mainley im trying to keep him going. dont want him to slow down too much. (maybe) tow a small wagon for the crap you pick up at car shows and swap meets etc.

speed is not really a major factor. 10-15mph or so. fast pace walk for most, and go for about 5hrs on a charge? ill have the charger on board so when out and about can stop for a while and plug in.

as far as motor and controller ive came up with 2 combos. also REVERSE IS A MUST!

first combo i have in mind is a 24V 500W motor item # MOT-24500B

and a 24V 500W forward and reverse controller item # SPD-24500R
http://www.electricscooterparts.com/images5/SPD-24500R.jpg

if that combo isent enough low end grunt i may bump up to 36Volts, heres is my idea for a 36Volt combo

36V 600W gear reduction motor, item # MOT-36600G
http://www.electricscooterparts.com/images/MOT-36750Ga.jpg

as far as a speed controller for that beast im still looking.

batteries im thinking running (2) 12Volt 18+Ah batt's for the 24Volt set up, or (3) 12Volt 18+Ar batt's for the 36Volt set up.

sofar this is all im planning/daydream status, nothing is for sure yet.

the motors and control ive listed with pictures are from this website

That's a great idea.
If built right, you could get some orders from those swap meets.
I know how your Dad feels, I squeak when I walk too.
Motorcycle racing, race cars and a miss spent youth.
I'd do it all over again, if I could, only faster.

That is a geat plan.
I have been researching the electric version myself. I am going to use a 36V 1000 watt package. I have found complete motor packages and parts at http://www.monsterscooterparts.com/trsc.html. The online chat help was very good. Keep us posted.

thanks guys.

so far im most likley stuck with the controller listed because its got reverse. most of the scooter controllers don't have that, and they get very expensive when you get into the 50+ Amp controllers.
