Wow what kind of motor are you using? I first mocked up mine with an 8 HP flat head briggs and it fit fine!! I guess if you have access to a bender you could bend the legs out farther to clear the motor, or there is the method of building your own stool, but I never thought the ones with square tube frames for stools looked very good, and round tube is harder to find especially in the light weight variety. other than that......

the thing is i build my frame to fit my stool so now if i bent the stool its
not going to fit... i think i found a way to make my own stool but its
going to look real sketchy. so far the sq frame looks pretty good too
compaired to others ive seen. i think im just going to get tghe motor
mounted and see what all i go to do to fit the stool...hope it works... be
sure to keep it posted

I had to have new legs made up because the stool did not fit over the motor. I am using a clone 6.5. I went to a race car shop and had new legs bent and welded. I made up a drawing of what I wanted by making some measurements and tracing it onto a piece of paper. Worked well.

It may help to use aftermarket fuel tank and exhaust. The bulk of the tank and muffler makes it hard to fit the stool over everything.

One work around to consider would be to remove the support ring, and mount the stool that way. I did that with my 6.75 Briggs powered BSR to get me on the road sooner. I also cut approx 4" off the bottom of the legs to help with "proportions". If I build another one, a custom stool will be used...

I removed the tank and the oem airfilter box. I still had to "tune" the legs a little bit to make it fit over the engine.
I have some pictures here:

I have since then removed the tank, are now using an old fire engushier (sp ?) as a tank. In the picture of the trailer and the stool you can just barely see the new fuel tank...
