Ouch!

I know what a welding burn feels like. I just got another this past weekend. I always ware gloves, but from time to time I will ware on a glove on my left hand and then forget and touch the metal with the right and burn myself.

Other times it does not make a difference if I ware gloves, because I sometimes rest my arm on part of the frame to make a weld and it is still hot, like last week.

Pretty clean hands for a welder. My old mans hands never look that clean.

My shop is so clean too, you could eat off the floor :thumb: But you will need some cold barley soup (beer) to wash it down:cheers:

I would not only poor some beer on it, but start drinking also.

By the way....ware long sleeves when welding...I got a nice sunburn today while running some MIG welds.

Guys...welding and burns are like ham-n-eggs....hands...eyes...necks...arms....as well as those RF burns from a TIG on Hi frequency....know how many steps it is to the fridge and get the ice real quick to stop the cooking in the flesh....I remember several interesting shapes branded in my hide over the years...like when I was 9 or 10 I wondered if the orange spiral in the cigar lighter in the car was hot...I had that spiral on my thumb for several years...or the piece of heavy metal I picked up ( stupidity ) with a deth grip ( I knew it was heavy and grabbed hard ) and it sizzled as it slipped thru my hand...took forever for my finger and palm prints to return on that one...or while helping a balcksmith artist friend handle a bug piece hanging from a hoist while yellow hot..it twisted and hit me on the bare arm....I could not move or damage a $25,000 comission piece......the skin slid off before I could look at it.....comes with the territory...be carefull...be safe.....ride 50mph on a stool ....go figure...

Rubicon,

Funny you should mention the cigar lighter in car. I did the same thing when I was a kid. I bet most kids do it.

It is kind of like when you know the carton of milk in the fridge is 2 months old and bad, but you just have to smell it to be sure....

That is why you have to pay extra for the "smokers kit" when you buy a new car now.
