Has anyone tried useing 1x2 tubeing during their build? I have about 40 or 50 ft layting around in shop and thought that would be a good use of it. Also I've seen that everyone mounts their stool to the top of the tubeing, could it be mounted to the inside of the frame allowing the frame to be a little wider?

I don't see why you couldn't make it out of bigger material. If you have a set of Mike Beans plans, then you will have to make allowances for the angles using the 1"x2" tubing.
The question about the seat mounting inside the frame. I can't see why that wouldn't work either.
Are you going to build the frame with the 2" side on the vertical or the horizontal?
Some of the other builders may want to comment here.

I used 1X2 tubing for my stretch BSR because its a two seater. It supports 400 lbs easy. The total weight will be higher so I went with a 11 hp. Honda engine. (probably overkill)

I was going to use the 2" side on the vertical that way I could run exhaust down each side like the side pipes were on cars in the 60's & 70's (I remember when they came out and thought they looked cool). I also was toying with the idea of tapering the front from the bottom up to create a 1 x 1 at the front to weld the front axle.

There is no such thing as "Overkill" when it comes to bar stool racing. Go for it.
