Hey Matti,
I am curious as to why the frame is already painted? Did you paint it before hand or was the steel you got painted?

Must be something wrong with your camera, it keeps blacking out your face, or is that the anti-red-Eye feature? LOL

Good Job, try having a good position while welding (keeping ur back straight) if not, in a few years (or maybe just more welding hours) u´ll be sore and that sucks!
116 bucks for the hubs?? are they made out of gold? man I paid about 50 for mines ;)
Keep posting

Nah there made out of aluminium.
They are made by a company called arrow karts, their stuff is expencive but its pretty good quality.
I found it abit steep aswell considering they are CNC machined and take about 5 mins to make.

Nice job, well you could´ve saved urself some bucks if you looked carefully. Mines are also out of aluminum, 6063 T-6 to be exact. Those are pretty easy to machine now you have the sizes. Here is a link of a combo I bought, it´s nice and has a low cost. Ya´ll people might wanna take a look.

Those people are cool to work with.
By the way could you take a better picture of your hubs? are you using a 50 mm or 40 mm axle?
barstooldawg
June 25th, 2006, 10:26 AM
Axel's a 30mm
No photos of hubs they are on the wheels at school :(
6063 T-6 isn't that aircraft grade aluminium?
I may be wrong they might be made out of 4130 chrome moly they are abit heavy.
I saw a picture of them being made in the work shop and they had a aluminium look to them.

June 25th, 2006, 06:46 PM
Sorry, I mistaken the last number. Most of them are made out of 6061 T-6 Aluminum, T-6 is a treatment in which cold working won´t affect the structural integrity of the aluminum. That is what mines are made of (however I dunno if thats the aircraft grade aluminum). However, I tought you were using milimetric axel cause of the shape of your hubs, as you can see in the kit mines look a little diferent. I´ll take some pics ASAP.
Probably they are made of chromoly or other kind of steel if you say they are a bit heavy.
Good job, keep posting.

Hey barstooldawg
Great job. yes you can buy all the stuff you need but I like making most of it if i can. that way when they ask where i got it i can say I made it.
I just finished a air filter ADAPTER for my motor. I seen one for around 60.00 but i did this one in just a few hours. And it puts my filter on my 2nd BSR out of the way of my stool legs.
Keep up the great work.

Thanks for the words of encouragment guys.
War paint:Love the airfilter pics howd you make it? i want one just like it!!!
Just out of curiosity should i make the spindel brackets out of 6mm thick steel or chromemoly? i was origonally thinking about steel because its easyer to get (heaps of it at school for free!) but chromoly is far stronger.
Any ideas?:smash:
WarPaint
June 26th, 2006, 10:03 PM
Well I use what i have onhand. If you can get chromemoly then i would use it. But i'm like you , Steel is all around where i work and I know where to go to get some free. And it is strong enough for spindel brackets.
Just my two cents.

Hello, You can get a 6.5 Honda Clone on ebay for around 150.00 including shipping if that helps. Also you can find some at yard sales sometimes also pretty cheap. If you have someone around how repairs lawn mowers they sometimes have good used ones to. Just a little info. Good Luck!
