am new to barstool racers. bought a used one on ebay. is it normal to have to use 3 lanes on the street for a turning radius? or is there some trick i need to know. the only thought i had was a diferential, but it is an expensive way to go. , thanks

yep a diff would be great. But your right on the cost. With a live axle it fights the turns. I have wide tires all around and the only way i can make a turn in the street is to gun it and slide the rear around. It takes some getting use to but is fun and cool when you do it. Hey ! post some pics of your BSR.

You are learning why diffs are more than cool...they allow you to turn....the only technique open to you is to shift weight way over the inside front tire to unload the outside rear tire and let it slip on the pavement....also ...wide tires on the front look way cool....but work against you in the turning a little to....its even more worse with wide on the back...but who could live with narrow tires on the back...all about looking cool to....the simple...and not very tec.....make one rear wheel freewheel...like a "yard kart"....dork...but works....good luck

I think its all in the way its built. With just a few degrees of caster and a tad of toe out both the stools I have built have been able turn extreamly well. I'd say in one lane of the road with no trouble. Surly not as well as one with a diff but easily with out leaning and exagerated shifting of wieght. When I built mine I more or less centerd the stool between the front and rear axil. This way the front tires have some weight on them and get better traction for turning.

I agree with CJM, I fought it for a while, but after playing with the steering geometry, mine is great, will turn in single wide drive way no prob,no fighting it.
I found the biggest thing on mine was steering arm/spindle arm length.
I made the steering shaft arm not hardly a 1/4" longer than the spindle arms, this brought the Ackerman right in, Turns on a dime, not Darty at speed.
Note, I am using Handlebars, this did make the steering effort a little more, which may be even worse with a small steering wheel.
But even as is, My 9 yr daughter can steer it fine.
Differential would be awesome as well, but myself, I'd hate to sacrifice the true posi feel for loose riding, and rear steer fun.

Mine turn on a dime...I got a suspention plus I aded some caster to it to the point where this thing will drive in a straight line without having to hold the stering wheel.....
