Altrego30,

I think what you need is an airfilter adapter. BMIKarts.com has one that I purchased for my Tech 6.5 which allows me to run the aftermarket air filters.

Call them and ask them for sure if it will work with the K&N filters.

What you do is take a briggs 5hp adapter, drill out holes in the adapter to your carbs holes, and all should work well.

Oh,
Im looking for somthing that I can angle the filter up and away from the side, if I used that one it would hit the BSR stool frame...

hi, would a filter like this angle it up enough or you could try angling it down. http://www.tsracing.com/store/showdetl.cfm?&DID=7&Product_ID=4934&CATID=17

Look on their site for a tapered air filter. You get extra room because the tip tapers down.

The one mini me posted might be to large. I have a couple here and they will not fit on my BSR.

Where the filter would sit, there just wouldnt be enough room. Need like 90 deg.

(GoodLuck) Installing the adapter plate!
I just installed the round adapter plate & K&N filter to my carb on my 6.0 Tecumseh. First off you will never take the phillip scruws off simply by using a scruw driver! I was told to heat up the scruws with a soldering iron to losen-up the lock tight. I stripped the groves with no problem at all so the driver would not work. I was pissed off putting in so much time into what seemed like an easy swap. So I took out my cut off wheel and cut off as much tin away from the back of the air cleaner assembly as close to the carb as I could than used a locking pliers to remove the two scruws 1/4 turn at a time. Was it worth it (yes) With the new header & air cleaner it made a big difference in the way it picks up speed now. I used the straight 4in filter and it hit my stool leg, just a little. I would use the angle one, I thought I had enough room with the straight one. Also not much clearance between the header pipe and the air filter clamp. I would use the small taper filter if I had to do it again.

It would save lots of time if you removed the carb first and than worked to remove the back metal plate from the carb from a vise on a work bench.
