Can anyone tell me if there are smaller size gas tips for MIG welding? I first welded my BSR with FLUX Core because I was not able to get my gas nozzle in the small places. I would think someone has a smaller tip for the hard to get at places.

Thanks!

Mike, yes you can get smaller diameter nozzles for your mig. Check out your local welding supply house and hopefully you'll all the info and parts you need. Mine has had the same nozzle on it since I bought it years ago. I just got a new lincoln TIG 185 which I'm going to use on my BSR. You can't beat a tig for tight precise welds and no slag.. good luck;)

I spoke with one place and they told me I could get a 3/8" -vs- my standard 1/2". That does not seem like much of a difference to me.

I thought I had seen on a website 3 different sizes somewhere. I did post this same question on http://weldingweb.com (http://weldingweb.com/) and someone there said to take an old nozzle and hammer it into an egg shape for those tight places. That sounds like the best idea yet.

Thanks again!

In case anyone is interested, I got this tip and gas nozzle for my Lincoln Pro MIG 175 so I can get in the tights spots and they also give a lot more visibility and this is all I use for all my welding now.

I had to call Lincoln direct to get the parts numbers and then I ordered them from my local suppilier. I recommend this to anyone that does welding.

I would advise against hammering the nozzle into an egg shape. This will not give you a good gas shield resulting in a poor weld. Also don't get a nozzle too long. You will have to crank up the gas flow and with the long nozzle, it will create a venturi effect and also result in a poor weld.

just my .02 cents (.25 canadian)

Mike,
Do you have the part #'s for the small nozzle and tip? I guess I am blind, I can't find the part #'s on Lincolns site.

Thanks,

Bombadierx5,

Sorry for not responding back sooner. I missed your post in here.

Here are the part numbers from my Lincoln User Manual:

Tapered Tips:
.025 - KP2052-1B1
.030 - KP2052-2B1
.035 - KP2052-3B1

Tapered Gas Nozzle:
0.5 ID - KP1938-1

I ordered my parts from my local Lincoln Dealer. I would call Lincoln to make sure the numbers I gave you are what you are looking for. I am pretty sure the Tip numbers are correct, but the Gas Nozzle may be wrong. Lincoln can also give you the correct part numbers and find you a local dealer in your area.
