Well...I finally did it....went to local 1/8 mile Dragstrip on "Run What You Brung Night"....The owner had to ask " What is it?".....They let me run by myself...The first run was on " MOTOR" ( drag racing lingo) and the second and third was on " BOTTLE"...The first run was to see how smooth the track was and how it handled @ speed ...this was the first time I have sustained full throttle for so long....it was fine....WHAT A RUSH!!!...to hear screams and cheers when the wheels lifted on each shift...see the light in front of me flash that signaled I had crossed the finish line....Then the best...reaching out to receive a real TIME SLIP on the return road....The second run I stopped short of the staging lights and opened the Nitrous bottle and purged it by "Spanking the motor" (nitrous lingo)...the announcer got a hoot out of that....I left clean...hit the nitrous button and second gear carried the front 3 times as far as on motor alone...same in 3rd...and 4th....then I was worried that the motor could stand nitrous at full throttle for so long...when I lifted it sputtered a little and cleared up....The third run it lifted the wheels in first ( never did that before! ) ....pulled the plug after and it was brown and wet....I was expecting silver with aluminum deposits on it....so guys....remember what I often say...."LIFE IS A JOURNEY....ENJOY THE RIDE!...on Nitrous if you can!"
PS....30.311 MPH in 16.525 sec........1/3 the speed and tripple the time of the fastest street machines....but...on a dang BARSTOOL NO LESS!!!!!!!!!!!

Monkey-1, Warpaint....I went to see the "World's Fastest Indian" @ the movies yesterday.....if you have not seen it please do....so if you have a drag strip nearby.....and they have a "grudge night...or run what you brung night"....grab your balls in one hand ( or both if they are really big ) and "DO IT!"....i cannot describe the many thoughts and feelings I had...but they were all good.....having a big crowd of rednecks ( redneck is a state of mind you know )...yelling and screaming.....standing with a bunch of bikers ( real serious street rockets with extended billet swingarms and cool racin' stuff ) waiting to stage...they were great...an old fart on a stool...how cool can it get?....little did they know that I put myself thru school wrenching and building the stuff that makes DISCOVERY channel interesting....all I did was look at thier machines....and complement on the detail that I recognized....THEY KNEW....like in 75 when I was @ Sturgis on a BSA 441 Victor....I was one of the TRIBE......well....so much for the past.....just try it and see for yourself.....now to frame the 3 best pics in a big frame with my "time slip"........enjoy life!!

Great pics man,,,
Now, in the 3rd pic, is that a 'chute attached to your belt?
If so, how or when you planning on popping it?
And if it is and you did plan, what did you think it'd do?
Just kidding, I'm more curious about the wheelie bars... did you put that white stuff on em and have your crew check for frame twist on launch?
Did you do any burnouts?

No 'chute on my butt......although 48 years ago I went down Kamakazi hill ( super steep paved road ) on a skateboard with a real WW2 parachute on my back....popped it halfway down....took forever to open....when it did it cleaned me off the board.....so...lesson stayed with me....forgot everything else since though....
No shoe polish on bar wheels......it needs them in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th....and on 3rd run I pulled them in first off the line for the first time....I kick the bottle about 4 seconds into 1st gear....it just screams after that point...
No burnouts...if i could line-lock the front wheels...or have someone stand in front...maybe i could...will try in the street at home to see before next run....THANKS

Hey Rubicon:
You never did tell any body what your stool did in the 1/8 mile? You pulled the front wheels when you shifted three times? All of your weight is over the front tires and it pulled wheelies into second & third gear? What kind of a motor do you have? and how much HP is your nos (set-up) It all sounds like a real good story. (Just asking)
How much trouble was it to hook-up the nos set-up and how did you find very small jets so you would not blow the thing up. The smallest jets I have seen is 75Hp which sounds to me like to much for a small cycle engine?

Hello, Buddy!! It is nice to see that your dream of a time slip came to pass.Be Proud man, not to many people get a chance to achieve thier dreams! You did and I am proud for you!! Keep up the great posts and will be looking forward to chatting with you as I still have not hooked up my NOS yet to mine. I do have everything you said I would need and hopefully will have time to work on it a lot more! I had to sell my M/C Shop due to my Heart problems. But I built or had a shop built here at my house and got a 10 X 27 Gear head Lathe, and a Lot more Equipment to Fabricate with. Nice to be back with all my friends here!

Garman...the jets are #14 for fuel (110 octane) and #12 for NOS...plug looks good ...but remember to use a "wet" system with fogger and 5psi fuel pressure on the fogger or you will fry the piston...good luck

This is great!! I was into drag boat racing and ran a bottle on my boat. This was a basically stock big block Chevy, bbut the difference with the bottle was night and day. If they are set up with the proper amount of fuel to NOS, you can't beat it. Great story. :thumb:
