Stool2,
Welcome to the forum! If you want to changed your name because there is already a stool-sample here, let me know I can take care of that for you.
As for the tork-a-verter, I have used one for over a year now and I really like it. Lately there has been some discussion on here about clutches and tork-a-verters. The biggest problem people have had with clutches is the cheap ones ($40) burn out easy and are noisy etc. The tork-a-verters only have a belt that needs replacement from time to time and the operation of a tork-a-verter is very smooth.
I would say spend the money for a tork-a-verter and you will be much happier. You can pull wheelies with ease and you get the best of both worlds...Low End Torque and High End Speed because of the adjustable pulleys.
Just my .02 cents...

BIG CHEESE I think you are right,Im sure they are quieter as well. I just notice a few 150-200$ clutches that promise great response. But rebuilding clutches sucks.
And yes I would change my name to BAR-TAB if it is not taken yet, thanks bro

I dont have a problem with your user name! lol I had to use this one. I thought it was kinda neat! lol I would actually rather change mine. Most guys in here know me from my workplace. I just didnt use it , as to not irritate others.

I was in the recent clutch decussions. Look in the archieves.
for what its worth, GO Torq A VERT.
I finally went to a TAV 2, I found it on Ebay, Approx 170.00 delivered, just have to search it out, or wait.
I forget offhand, but during my decision to purchase, someone posted a better price, but I didnt get the post till I had already ordered.
I had a 280+ rider on mine, pulling front wheels with throttle only.
I'm running 6.5 Honda Clone (Sterling), have been happy so far.
Now you got 4 cents, LOL.

Here are two links to the latests discussions on TAV's. Good information for anyone thinking about going with a TAV (Tork-A-Verter).

I hear great things about torque converters but unfortunantly we arent allowed to race with them:bigcry: . Our rule books state no transmission or any device that is capable of changing the gear ratio so we stick to the clutches. We are running jammers on all of our stock class engines and I run the older 2 disk wet clutches on my open and limited mod bsr. CLutches are about 250.00 each, each rebuld is around 100.00, springs are 3 bucks a piece, shoes are 40.00 and drums are another 40.00. It adds up quickly and it does require a bit of knowledge to get one set up right. Torque converters seem the way to go with the low end and then the pulleys changing ratio with the rpms. Somebody change the rule so us racers can run em LOL:laughing:
