What is the proper clearance to have between the wheelie bar and ground level? Also, is there any magic distance from the back of the frame to the back of the wheelie bar (wheel)?
Thanks

mater of preferance man. Ya wanna ride 100 yard wheelies or keep the front wheels on the ground alltogether?. Trust me ............you have options. hehe

i set mine up depending how high i wanted to wheelie. first they were set to let the stool balance on the bars standing still....kinda boring. now i set mine so that i have to be on the gas to carry the fronts about 4 inches off the ground....much cooler in my opinion. it is all personal preference. as far as how far back to have them, far enough so that you don't land on your ass.LOL

Heysarge,
When I setup my wheelie bar I wanted the highest wheelie possible. I lifted the front end so the rear of the frame was 1" away from hitting the ground and then I fabbed a wheelie bar while the frame was lifted to hold that distance.
Now I when I ride wheelie I get the max lift out of the BSR. I am not sure what the actual lift tis but I think it is more than 12 - 15 inches. I guess I will have to measure it sometime...
Below is a photo of my wheelie bar...

Heysarge,
it is up to U were to set your wheelie bar. I made mine so it is adjustable. That way i have the best of both worlds, (low and controled for drags or as high as she will go for fun.) Were ever U set it have fun.

I rode mine before paint in "test mode" before deciding on wheelie bar/wheels. Turns out, I can barely scrape the rear frame with 10" tires, 8hp Tec flathead, governor removed, 10 front and 40 rear gear. and i really gotta try.
There's a lot of factors, but I think you have to consider gearing, wheel base, height of stool, clutch, and CG. My front end is extended a bit, so It seems to make a difference to me.
Here's the formula:
(percent of ass over rear axle x total wheelbase) over (Hp divided by gear) times (beers consumed).
my brs handles much better in proportion to amount consumed.

Too Funny Guy!
I have to put in my .02 cents on this also.
I find I can also ride better wheelies for longer distances after consuming a few beers. I have also found out that it does not hurt as much when you fall off riding wheelies after consuming a few beers...
"Please do not try this at home. The above tests were done by skilled beer drinkers and professional barstool riders..."

Heysarge, Bar-tab hit it, it's all on how high you want to go. When I first set mine up I set them up to only allow the front to come about 3-4 inches. On the rebuild I reset them to let the front come up about 6-7 inches. I'm thinking now to add tie rod ends in the ends of my lower arms to be able to adjust them. It's all in what you want. As far as the lenght, it's all about the look you want. :lush:

My wheelie bar is going to be set up highly similar to Mikes, however the wheel itself..............Lets just say my kid is missing one of his roller blades lol.....the bearings are excellent on those things and they are of a pretty soft compound. Should make a little less jaring when launching hard on the wheel, plus they look pretty cool too.

My son sacrificed his bike, but he got a new one out of the deal. Are you going to run one wheel or 2, I think I remember Mike saying something about balance with just the one wheel

Hopefully I'll have it back together in a few weeks, replacing the brakes with hyd. and swaping out the 110 w/ an electric start 125. Also adding in some neon under it and a few other things. Waiting for some parts to come in for the motor. Finished up the header pipe for it today. Hopefully I can keep it on the wheelie bars without it throwing me this time. I'll get some video of it as soon as I get it going again. I'm interested in seeing how Rednecktechs comes out.

Why not set one under the frame with arms that come down to lift the front up, a constant wheelie, just kidding but something like that would set it apart from the rest
