Hi Farmer,
I use a 6.5HP with a TAV2 and I use a 40 tooth #41 chain sprocket and a 1" Live Steel Axle on mine.
All I can tell you is that it works great. With the TAV and Sprocket combo I get plenty of low end power and top end speed.
BarstoolRacerSupply.com (http://barstoolracersupply.com)has the parts I just described if you want to take a look.

Hi Farmer,
I used an 1-1/4" chromoly live axle on all of my bsr's but we are racing. If your planning on just building a cruiser I think mike is the man with the plan. 1" with a tav and you should be just fine. We dont run the tavs we run straight racing clutches and 219 chain(faster than 35 or 41) If I remember right I am 14 tooth on the clutch driver and 72 on the rear sprocket. My open class racers run an engine sprocket and axle clutch. I think we are 9 driver and 48 tooth rear also 219 chain.
Mike has you lined out though, 1" axle, tav and he has everything right there in his store to get you hooked up bro. Also plenty of posts about gear ratios etc etc etc if you wanna fool around with it a little bit.
Voodoo:cheers:
