are you refering to the 5hp flathead briggs? If so there were 4 different stock flywheels available for that particular engine. The first was an all cast iron large model that was originally used on the old type points blocks that ran off the crankshaft. Heavy but bulletproof. Then there was a part aluminum and part cast flywheel that came around about the time the magnetron series started to take off. That was the series the coil and the pickup were integrated into one unit and elimintaed the points. Not all magnetron series had this flywheel but this was quite common. Briggs also produced an all aluminum flywheel that used stricly with the 5hp vertical shaft engines that were used exclusively for snapper lawnmowers. Some had starter rings and some didnt. The last flywheel was again a cast base with aluminum fins and a starter ring that had a stator mounted to the block and the flywheel was installed over that. Very rare engines actually and I have only seen ONE and that was on an off brand snowblower that had an electric start. Pretty hard to come by im sure as briggs and stratton has halted production on the 5hp flathead engines including the motorsports division. Looks like everything is going OHV.
The new inteks are a mystery to me with the exception of the motorsports version which are the animal and the world formula. I am not familiar with the electric start systems on either as we dont use them and I am not sure about a stator for generation either. Broggs and stratton has a website where you can research code numbers off an engine and it shows detailed schematics and parts list as well as numbers. Maybe this will help you out
