I am having alot of difficulty seating the bead on another set of front tires I have. I have tried everything and it wont seat the bead. I have a plenty of air and have tried using a ratchet strap around the center of the tire to help, and nothing helps. Does anyone have any ideas? The rears seated fine, but these fronts are a nightmare.

Monkey-1,

What size are your rims and tires? I mounted both my front and rears with pretty much no problems.

I did how ever have to put some WD-40 on the bead to help it slip on. I know the tire shpws use I think soapy water to make it slippery. Give that a try..

I do remember having a problem with getting the bead to pop all the way around, so I bumped up the air pressure a little more and bang, it went on.

No, its not that. I cant get the tire to take the rim at all. The air keeps escaping and not filling the tire. I have mounted and dismounted tires for a while,I even have my own (automotive) tire machine, so Im not completely clueless. The tires are 10x4.5x5 and the rims are 5x5's.

Hmm... Well it soudns to me like maybe there is a mismatch. Could it be possible they shipped you the wrong rim?

You obviously have the knowledge to mount the tires, so I would have to believe there is a problem with the tires, rims or both. Can you call the suppilier or manufacture?

I checked the wheels and the tires should fit. These particular tires are just hard to get seated. I think I am going to run tubes in them to get them seated. As much as I hate to do that i guess its my only option. I am going to take them to a friends tire place and he said he would try to get them, but last option I can get tubes.

Try this.......with the strap on. Get a second hose with an "air tool"
At the same time hit the air going into the stem and put the air tool{the longer and thinner the better} in between the rim and the bead of the tire. I had the same problem with a car tire, and a friend of mine{a master mechanic with a few tricks lol} tried this POP POP ON in 3 seconds.

Monkey check out these pics this may help ya. If your tires are placed right on the rim and they don't bead for you just keep pumping air into them they will submit to the preasure.

excellent pics...and advice....I have read..but not responded to any of the mail concerning tire mounting problems...i have struggled in the past ...and even after that...but finally made it...the people that understand the fundamental issues will win..with effort....i was successful with outrageous rims...with a lot of sweat....and won when I realized the simple principles.....if your rim is wider than the tire...compress the OD and force the beads to come close to the rim evenly with soap ( some advise against this because of the water ) ( kart guys that say steam in a hot tire affects the stagger...duhhhhh) then use 100% pure nitrogen to make the purists happy!...or other lube...when I have used e-bay wheels that are not clean I scrub the wheel inside with a brillo to allow the bead to slip..what part of all this is not common sense?...if anyone thinks I am stupid...i paid a kart shop $18 to mount my first 2 tires....after that I would have quit and given up if i could not done it the hard way...by myself..keep tryin'.....guys....its not th edestination...its the journey.....have you heard?....LIFES A JOURNEY.....ENJOY THE RIDE......ENJOY!

If you dont have a tire band use a 5 gallon bucket for the band. Then put your strap over that.Cut the bucket about 10 " wide. Really soapy water on the tire and rim works well. These small tires suck to mount. Or you could do what we did back in the day with semi tires and either! lol

I mount about 4 to 6 sets of tires every 3 weeks not to count our spares and dirt tires. The best thing I have found to use is a little bit if goop hand cleaner and an air nozzle on your hose. I get a locking air chuck like from napa or somewhere, clip it on and if the tire wont seat on the rim take the air nozzle with the chuck still attached and shoot the air around the rim. The bead will seat immdiately. Be sure to wear safety glasses as when the bead pops it slings that goop everywher and it sure does sting when it gets in your eyes LOL

I mounted tires using a cheeta bottle. :hammer: It's a highly compressed portable air tank (just like a CO2) like the one's that are on tow trucks and it has a tube stem with a curved bar at the end with alot of small air holes. You press it against the bead and pull the trigger whlie pumping air through the stem. It lets out a blast of air causing the bead to close over the rim. :bigcry: The force of the blast is very strong and loud and it can kick back on you so be careful. It evens out the pressure of the air and usually works with one try. :hot: Lubricants do help to....Got that one from my wife:dizzy: Aloha from sunny Hawaii..........................................................

YOU HAVE TO TAKE THE VALVE STEM OUT!!!!!! and dont use WD-40 because it breaks the tire down. use soapy water If you do those 2 things you wont even need a tire band.

Hey all, I received my front tires and they were already seated, however, when I put them on my go kart, 1 will run in the wrong direction. Do I need to take it off and put it on the right direction? or I can just go with it that way?

Ty all

They won´t be going into a shifter STANDARD kart, however they´ll be on my go kart which will reach speeds up to 100 kmph and has a shift lever :D...
.
SOOOO Should I put it the correct way? are tires made out of a special way in which reverse operation would make them have any problems?
