Hey Bar-Tab!
I have not removed my Governor yet, but I would assume you would simply just remove the linkage from the carb.
Has anyone else done this? I have heard of this method being done on an engine before, I just do not remember what brand/type of engine is was...

Hey Mike,
the tec 6.5 is pretty much the same principal on a briggs. Just remove the linkage and no more governor. Be sure and remove the plastic sprocket inside the crankcase because there known to shell and put mice little pieces of plastic and metal in your crankcase for you. And someone mentioned that the connecting rod will grenade thats a good pointer to remember when you wind those things up. Nasty looking when the rod windows the front of your block

I've done it on my 6 hp Tecumseh. Let me tell you that you have to make a solid rod tying your throttle linkage to your carb. It doesn't take much, something like a wire coat hanger will work. It really makes the motor run! You do need to remove the plastic gear inside the motor also. I can also tell you that it will hold together as long as you don't get too crazy with it. If you plan on getting totally nuts every time you run it, I would definitely spend the money and upgrade the rod. Stiffer valve springs would also be a must, but I have been told by a source that the stock valve springs act as a rev limiter. When you float the valves, you are spinning it too fast!

I mentioned this in another thread, but when I asked about it, I was in the building process of the stool.... I am now finnished. There is no way Im going to remove the limiter in any way lol. Its plenty of power for my interest. I was complemented on the stool at a BIG harley show this past weekend. Id love to send in some pics but I am better at creating something like a barstool than I am at compressing and zipping pictures for a website. I built a platform on the back of my stool so I can stand up and ride wheelies for miles. Ill try to figure it out so I can send in some pics.
