Does any one know of any good manuals or book on building racing B&S engines? On how to build blocks, carbs for alky and stuff.

There is not an actual book on briggs and stratton engine itself like modern automotive engines however there is a good book call 4 cycle racing. It was written with the kart racer in mind however it covers a lot of ground on the flatty 5hp. Keep in mind this book was written before the raptor days and it goes into great lengths about making a block survive through hot rodding.

There is a book on carbs dealing from 2cycles to 4 cycles, gas and alky and covers a wide range of carbs from the briggs carbs to tillys and even walbro's and zenon's. Some keihin and mikuni's but not much. Unfortunantly I dont remembert the name of this book but again it was written with the kart racer and jr drag racer in mind but has a lot of good information inside. Someone mentioned 4 cycle racing .com and that is a great reference source and a lot of good racers in there. Look around on the net, you can find what you want
